Can't wait for vacation

Well another vacation is upon us. We leave Thursday after work. This year, while I am excited, we are not going to somewhere new like usual. Thanks to a beach house snafu, we're going to Boone to look at places for the wedding. Luckily we have a free place to stay in Boone, then we're going to see the Stinnetts in Myrtle Beach.

So I've been checking the event calendars and paying attention to what's going on in NC next week. Well I just found out that through the month of July, Krispy Kreme is offering a Cheerwine-filled donut at its North Carolina stores! Krispy Kreme--here we come!

Check out our monogram!

Yep, it was FREE at WeddingChicks.com along with some cool save-the-date possibilities! I love that you can customize the colors, too.

more mason jars

I even found a way to hang the mason jars once they've been antiqued at the Intimate Weddings blog.

love this

I found this blog post telling how to "paint" mason jars blue to look like antique jars that are really expensive.
I'm thinking of doing this for the wedding maybe for the centerpieces to hold flowers and candles or to make lanterns. I saw it on iDiY. The instructions are here. Awesome!

This is how you get dumped by a wedding planner.

I contacted a wedding planner to possibly help with the day-of and to help recommend vendors. She was super nice, but I must say, I felt like a total tight-wad after filling out her questionnaire. I subtracted the cost of the dress, photographer and decorations from the total budget and gave her a figure of $3500. Here's the response:

"From your first email you had said $5000 and now on the check list I see $3500 on your budget. I am not sure that my services will be feasible within that number now since it has changed. I want you to have a great wedding and I do not want my service fee to take away from and other areas of budget.
The best rate we can offer is $800 which covers the two week prior, vendor review and time line preparation and some set up can also be incorporated within reason like we discussed on the phone."

It hurt a little, but she's right. I can get a lot of other stuff for $800. Oh well. Kylie and Amanda--I hope you will help keep me sane and pull this shindig together. love ya'll!

The excitement is building....

I'm getting pretty excited for our trip to the mountains to find a place for our wedding. I'm starting to make calls and hoping we find everything we need quickly. We still want to have a little fun, too. I've called several places to find we could not afford them, but I think we can find a good, fun and beautiful location. (Trying to stay positive.)

On the positive side, I found several awesome blogs with links to FREE printable invitations! Score! I have fallen hard for these blogs and sites with tons of diy ideas for the wedding. I love iDiY, Bridal Buzz, 100 Layer Cake, Lovely Clusters (Amanda, you'll love this one), Domestifluff, Nonpareil magazine, Intimate Weddings, The Inspired Bride, The Broke-A** Bride, and Three Potato Four for cool vintagey stuff.

Also, our watermelons are ripe and so very tasty! Some are babies just larger than a softball. ummmm......good!
